Park Rapids Area Fishing Report
Most lakes are frozen over! Unfortunately we got about a foot of snow over the 2 to 9" of ice we have. If your going to venture out make sure to check the ice condition as you go out as the ice can vary vastly over a short distance! Make sure to have safety devices such as a float suit, ice picks, and throw rope in case the worst happens. Those venturing out are seeing great fishing!
Walleye- 8 to 12 feet seems to be the best bite. A rattle jig with a fathead seems to be the hot ticket. Gold and pink have been the most productive colors so far. A deadstick has also been a good option with a shiner.
Panfish- Deeper holes and large flats are holding good numbers of panfish. Wax worms, spikes, and crappie minnows have all worked with alot of guys just using straight plastics such as those by 13 fishing and Clam. Black and Pink have been hot colors!
Pike - Sucker minnows on a tip up are always a good option. A large rattle jig with a minnow will also draw their attention and get fish on the ice! White plastics will also product fish.
Make sure to stop in and check out our bait selection from minnows to grubs to a wide variety of plastics and hard baits! We have the largest selection of tackle in area and are your one stop shop for everything outdoors!
Have a great week on the water!
